Option A – IT admin activates Crewting (recommended)

An IT administrator joins Crewting and authorizes the Microsoft integration once.

Fastest & easiest way

Option B – User submits release request

Employees initiate approvals and an administrator must confirm them.

For strictly regulated IT environments

Approval can only be granted by a Microsoft Teams administrator and requires the app to be installed in a team. If the app is not yet installed in a team, the necessary steps are described here: Crewting installation instructions

This method is the most efficient and avoids approval queries.

Procedure:

  1. An IT admin is invited to join the team where the Crewting app has been installed.

  1. The admin logs into the Crewting app and selects Sign in with Microsoft.

  1. The administrator connects the calendar once via the app settings (instructions for connecting the calendar)

All employees can then use Microsoft/Outlook and the calendar immediately – no further approvals are necessary

Option B – User requests approval (administrator confirms)

If direct administrator login is not possible, this option is used.

  1. User triggers request

To trigger the request, a user must perform one of the following actions within the Crewting app:

  • Sign in with Microsoft - log in to the app with Microsoft credentials
  • Connect Outlook Calendar - connect the Microsoft calendar to the app via the settings

The person receives a notification that admin approval is required:

  1. Admin receives approval email

The IT admin automatically receives an approval email from Microsoft:

If no email is received by the administrator, all requests can be viewed via the following link: https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_AAD_IAM/StartboardApplicationsMenuBlade/~/AccessRequests/menuId/

  1. Admin sees request in the Azure portal

The link and email lead directly to the Admin consent requests overview, where Crewting appears:

  1. Select Crewting & check details

The administrator clicks on the Crewting request and sees the required permissions:

  1. Grant permissions

Admin clicks on: Review permissions and consent > Accept

This will grant the rights to your organization on a one-time basis.

  1. Users can now sign in and connect calendars

After approval, users can click on “Sign in with Microsoft” or “Connect Calendar” again—now successfully:
